This exceptional example of traditional Chinese Export furniture. Crafted from a dense, dark hardwood (typically rosewood or zitan-style ebonized wood), the piece features:
A circular, polished inset marble plaque (often a pink, peach, or variegated rouge marble) framed by a broad wood surround with a meticulously carved beaded rim.
A deeply pierced, reticulated (openwork) frieze showcasing continuous scrolling fruiting grapevines, leaves, and floral motifs (such as prunus or cherry blossoms).
Four elegantly bowed cabriole legs adorned with high-relief foliage carvings along their outer faces, terminating in stylized claw or paw feet. The legs are structurally reinforced and balanced by a distinctively shaped, pierced lower cross-stretcher shelf.
Late Qing Dynasty to early Republic period circa 1890 – 1920
