• Artist: Barbara Newcomb.
• Title: "View from Inkpen" (written by hand in pencil on the bottom left).
• Edition: 76/100. This indicates it is number 76 out of a total limited edition run of 100 prints.
• Medium: Combined color etching and relief embossing (which gives the clouds their distinct, raised 3D texture).
Newcomb was highly regarded for her stylized, layered landscape prints from the 1970s and 1980s, which frequently paired sweeping pastoral horizons with intricately textured, embossed cloudscapes.
• The Subject: Inkpen is a historic, picturesque rural village and parish nestled in the Berkshire Downs of England. This specific viewpoint perfectly aligns with Barbara Newcomb's lifelong passion for capturing the rolling hills and unique topography of the English countryside.
• The Medium: You can clearly observe the distinct, uninked white texture of the embossed relief print process right above the green landscape line where the paper is pressed outward. See less
