This vintage ceramic vase is a vivid study in color, where molten glaze runs over warm, creamy clay. The bulbous, hand-thrown body rises from a small, neat footring and swells to a full belly before narrowing at the shoulder and flaring into a softly rolled, outward-turned lip. Bold vertical ribbons of deep amber, burnt sienna, and earthy ochre descend from the neck, meeting a pool of dark, mossy green-black glaze at the center. The glaze feathers into soft, blended drips that stop short of the base and leave the pale, buttery stoneware body bare in between. The glossy surface catches the light with a glassy depth, and the contrast against the matte clay gives the piece an energetic, painterly quality. Subtle throwing lines and slight asymmetry reflect the studio potter's hand. Small glaze skips and tiny flecks of exposed terracotta appear near the rim and foot, and a soft, aged patina adds character and authenticity throughout.
Compact yet full of presence, this vase suits a bookshelf, mantel, console, windowsill, or kitchen shelf, and it pairs beautifully with other earthy ceramics in a curated vignette. It complements Rustic, Organic Modern, Mid-Century Modern, Japandi, and Farmhouse interiors. The vase measures 3.75 inches in width, 3.75 inches in depth, and 5.25 inches in height. Condition is very good: the original glaze remains vibrant, with minor surface imperfections and small glaze skips consistent with age, and no visible cracks or chips. For care, dust with a soft dry cloth and hand wash gently with mild soap and lukewarm water if needed. Use it for dried or faux stems, or add a liner before holding fresh flowers.
