Pair of Italian decorative lidded boxes, each formed from richly veined pink and cream marble with a gilt-bronze or bronze-mounted lid surmounted by a seated cherub. The domed lids are elaborately cast with foliate decoration and the cherubs are modeled with detailed wings, drapery, and facial features.
The marble bodies have stepped, architectural profiles with rounded molding, while the removable lids give the pieces a strong sculptural quality.
