Coral red, soft pink, sunny yellow, and ivory flowers mingle with fresh green leaves, framed by warm brass borders.

The rectangular box stands on four small rounded feet and features a hinged lid with a shaped lifting tab. Inside, vivid turquoise enamel lines three compartments, originally suited to organizing postage stamps and now useful for rings, earrings, or tiny keepsakes.

The decoration appears to use the traditional cloisonné technique: fine metal wires outline the flowers and leaves, creating small compartments filled with colored powdered-glass enamel mixtures. Repeated kiln firings build the enamel, followed by grinding and polishing—a patient sequence of skilled handwork that gives these small objects their richness and detail.

An enchanting accent for a writing desk, dressing table, or collection of decorative boxes. See less
