Signed ceramic sculpture by American artist Diane Solomon Kempler, pairing a natural ostrich egg with a hand-built stoneware stand of sculptural rolled-slab form. The softly curved gray clay rises on three short organic legs, while a glazed central recess echoes the warm ivory tone and rounded form of the egg.
The contrast between the finely textured natural eggshell and Kempler's restrained, tactile ceramic form gives the piece a particularly contemporary presence. It works beautifully as a singular sculptural object on a console, cocktail table, pedestal or collected bookshelf. Signed Diane Kempler to the underside.
