The antique gold surface highlights ornate carved column, gilt finish, characteristic of France furniture making in the louis xv tradition, of the louis xv period. Its surface and joinery bear the honest, gradual wear of genuine age rather than a manufactured distress, evidence of a long working life already lived. Bringing a piece like this into your home means inheriting a story already in progress, and adding your own chapter to it. Rather than buying something destined for a landfill in a few years, an antique like this rewards you with materials and joinery built to be repaired, not discarded. It is well suited to a living room floor lamp. See less
