Finished in deep ebony black, this ebonized column pedestal is distinguished by fluted cylindrical column on a stepped base, reflecting the neoclassical sensibility of of the neoclassical period France design. Its surface and joinery bear the honest, gradual wear of genuine age rather than a manufactured distress, evidence of a long working life already lived. There is a particular satisfaction in owning something with real history behind it, rather than something made to be replaced in a few short years. It is one of the better decisions you can make for the planet as well as your home, since furniture built this solidly rarely needs replacing. It is well suited to a display pedestal for sculpture or a lamp. See less
