Here we have a classic mid-century adjustable brass pharmacy floor lamp with a sleek, architectural design. The lamp is stamped DMI at the head, and research shows closely related DMI-stamped lamps attributed to Koch & Lowy. A weighted rectangular brass base supports a slender telescoping stem that adjusts from approximately 34” to 44.5” tall. The articulated lamp head can also be positioned to direct light, making it perfect beside a reading chair, sofa, desk, or bed. The brass has wonderful age-related patina and finish variation that gives it an authentic vintage character. Inside is the original Underwriters Laboratories Portable Lamp label, Issue No. J8316. The lamp has a two-prong cord and is currently functioning.
A beautiful example of of 1960s/70s modernist design and practical task lighting—very Mad Men executive office or vintage Manhattan apartment.
