This magnificent example of early 20th-century Chinese weaving captures the elegance inherent in the Peking tradition. Characterized by a remarkably spacious field and deeply saturated dyes, this piece stands as a testament to the enduring appeal of high-quality antique rugs.

The central field is dominated by a profound, inky indigo, creating a dramatic foundation that showcases the sophisticated use of the blue color rugs palette. Scattered across this expansive canvas are delicate floral sprigs and blossoming branches rendered in soft golds, rusts, and creams, providing subtle visual interest without cluttering the composition.

A striking, multi-layered border system frames the design, featuring a bold outer band of vibrant orange-saffron. This strong contrast is typical of the period's aesthetic fusion, balancing traditional Chinese iconography—such as stylized vines and circular longevity symbols—with the modern demand for graphic impact and color saturation.

Retaining its lustrous wool pile and exceptional clarity of design, this Peking rug offers a superb decorative presence. Its generous proportions classify it as a true room size rug, making it an ideal anchor for a formal living area or a grand dining room, providing both historical depth and timeless color See less
