1770s English Georgian tilt top round walnut pedestal table with brass release. Hand turned pedestal on three cabriole legs resting on snake feet.
This piece is in excellent condition for its age. The tilt release mechanism operates smoothly and the finish on the table top and pedestal is luminous with minimal wear considering the age of the table. The underside of the table has fascinating indicators of the handcrafted workmanship, including forged iron nails, hammer indentations, and marks showing the relocation of the brass clasp and an hourglass-shaped piece used to repair a crack.
Dimensions: 35 in diameter top x 29 in high in horizontal position. Pedestal legs are 12 in high at the center column and extend 14 in outward.
