The … Read more A collection of five Rondo Aqua vases designed by Per Lütken and produced by the renowned Danish glassworks Holmegaard. The design dates from 1956 and is part of the distinctive mid-20th-century Danish art glass movement. The Rondo series was documented, among other places, in the 1958 Holmegaard Glasværk catalog.

The vases captivate with their simple, almost perfectly spherical form and the massive, heavy glass construction characteristic of Lütken’s work. The transparent Aqua-colored glass has a subtle blue tint that is particularly beautiful in the thicker sections of the glass. The small, compact bases lend stability to the spherical forms and emphasize their sculptural character.

Combining several sizes allows them to be treated not only as functional vases but also as standalone works of glass art. Their variety of sizes creates a harmonious, collectible composition.

Importantly, documentation of the series shows that the Rondo Aqua was produced in many sizes—ranging from small forms measuring approximately 6 × 6 cm to larger spheres with a diameter of about 13 cm.
