This antique fragment from … Read more A Spanish architectural stone fragment, on custom iron stand, from the 19th century (or possibly earlier). This antique fragment from Spain, likely carved from limestone or sandstone, is rectangular with a deeply carved relief composed of a central vertical element intersected by a series of projecting horizontal bands or ribs creating a rhythmic architectural pattern. Surfaces reveal traces of incised inscriptions and etched carvings. These markings appear to consist of hand-carved letters arranged in horizontal registers. The inscriptions are now partially obscured by erosion, but several letter forms remain visible, possibly the name of "Jose Kaba" but writing is not quite decipherable. It has been mounted on a custom iron display stand for presentation. The stone exhibits age-related wear, erosion, and surface patination consistent with history and outdoor use.
