The chair's most distinctive feature is its elaborate pierced back splat, incorporating stylized Neoclassical and lyre-inspired forms beneath a gently arched crest rail. Gracefully curved arms flow into the seat frame, while the front legs feature the same turned, tapered and reeded treatment seen throughout the coordinating dining suite.

The upholstered seat retains an older cream ribbed fabric over a traditional spring-supported seat construction. The underside reveals coil springs, webbing and earlier upholstery materials consistent with an older upholstered chair.

Dating to approximately the 1920s, the chair displays the lighter proportions and classical ornament associated with American Federal and Hepplewhite Revival furniture.

Good antique condition with age-appropriate wear to the wood and finish, including scratches, marks and finish variation. There are areas of veneer loss/chipping on the inner-facing surface of the pierced chair back, as shown in the photographs. The chair remains visually attractive, but these areas are visible when viewed from the seat side. The upholstered seat shows staining, spotting and discoloration and may benefit from professional cleaning or reupholstery. Part of a Matching Dining Suite: This armchair was acquired from the same estate as a matching dining table, buffet/sideboard and china cabinet. The pieces share the same walnut-toned finish, Neoclassical styling, tapered and reeded legs, and coordinating decorative details, indicating they were originally part of the same dining suite.
