This richly layered composition combines expressive painting, heavy impasto, collage elements and graphic imagery to create a highly tactile, almost sculptural surface. An earthy palette of cream, ochre, charcoal, gray, orange and deep magenta is punctuated by whimsical applied imagery, including a colorful cow motif and botanical leaf elements.
The work displays a sophisticated assemblage-like quality, with heavily worked passages of paint, scraped and built-up surfaces, gestural marks and incorporated collage elements creating remarkable visual depth. The orange-painted surround provides a bold architectural border to the composition.
Executed on stretched canvas. The reverse retains its original French stretcher with “CHASSIS FRANCE” marking and a Camard “Made in France” label, providing additional evidence of the painting’s French materials/provenance.
