A wonderfully detailed antique Victorian bamboo pedestal table dating to the late 19th or early 20th century. The tall, slender frame features richly figured tortoiseshell or scorched bamboo with four splayed legs and an original woven lower shelf.
The upper portion is especially charming, with curved bamboo supports accented by turned wooden balls and small hanging finial ornaments. A square wood top provides just enough surface for a lamp, plant, sculpture or favorite decorative object.
The bamboo frame has been carefully restored while preserving the age, variation and imperfections that give the piece its character. Remnants of an early paper furniture label remain beneath the top, although the maker’s name is no longer fully legible.
