This is a whimsical typographic map of San Francisco created by artist Ian Huebert and researched by San Francisco Chronicle book editor John McMurtrie, famously featured and popularized via The Rumpus. The map is drawn entirely out of handwritten literary quotes about San Francisco, where the text itself forms the geography, streets, and neighborhoods of the city. It was loosely inspired by a literary map of St. Petersburg, Russia. The cartography incorporates passages and names from iconic writers tied to the Bay Area, such as Jack Kerouac, Mark Twain, Philip K. Dick, and John Steinbeck. The print is encased in a black frame with aegean blue matte. See less
