Pair of Original Eero Saarinen “Tulip” Swivel Armchairs for Knoll, c. 1968
An exceptional pair of original Eero Saarinen (1910–1961) “Tulip” swivel armchairs for Knoll, dating to circa 1968. Each chair features the iconic white enameled aluminum pedestal base with original linen upholstery in a warm yellow tone—an enduring example of Saarinen’s groundbreaking Mid-Century Modern design.
Both chairs retain their original Knoll labels to the underside of the seats and are stamped “BR 50” on the bases.
The chairs exhibit wear consistent with age and use, including natural toning to the upholstery, general fabric wear, and scattered staining. The upholstery has no tears, holes, or other damage and is free of odors. The fabric would benefit greatly from a thorough professional deep cleaning or reupholster. The white enameled aluminum bases remain in very nice overall condition.
A highly desirable and authentic pair of Saarinen “Tulip” chairs, representing one of the most recognizable designs of the Mid-Century Modern era.
