The sculptural plate features five … Read more An elegant antique French porcelain oyster plate by Haviland & Co. of Limoges, circa 1900–1915.

The sculptural plate features five gracefully molded oyster wells surrounding a central condiment well, all formed within an undulating scalloped border. Hand-painted clusters of ripe red and coral cherries alternate around the plate with softly shaded green and cream foliage.

Generous areas of hand-applied gilding sweep across the outer border, complemented by a fine gilt rim. Subtle molded floral and foliate relief beneath the glaze adds another layer of texture to the luminous white porcelain.

Marked on the underside with Haviland's green “Haviland France” manufacturer's mark. This mark is associated with Haviland & Co. production from approximately 1894 through 1931, placing the piece firmly within the golden age of Limoges porcelain exported to the American market.

The hand-painted fruit decoration gives this example particular charm and makes it equally appropriate as collectible tableware or as a decorative cabinet or wall plate.

Approximately 9 inches in diameter.

Good antique condition with visible age-related rubbing and losses to portions of the gilded decoration. The hand-painted cherry decoration remains vivid. Please refer to photographs for details of the original antique finish and wear.
