What makes this piece exceptionally rare and desirable is its multi-layered surface, The base terracotta has been weathered to a warm ochre, mustard and honey tone. Over this, thick washes of limewash and chalky white paint have been worn and rubbed away over time, leaving ghostly, fresco-like traces.
