This term describes the iconic, sinuous, and dual-curved shape of the stretchers and leg supports. These legs terminate in scrolled pieds-en-enroulement (hoof or scroll feet). The frame is structurally reinforced with a robust H-shaped stretcher featuring a decorative, central carved medallion block.
While the design dates back to early 17th-century France, these chairs are late 20th-century revivals, likely crafted in Europe, either France or Italy, where workshops specialized in recreating grand court furniture for upscale homes.
