Each urn presents two different hand-painted hunt scenes framed within gilt rondels, including mounted hunters with their hounds, a gathering before the hunt and an elegant coaching party arriving at a country manor.
Colorful game birds appear between the principal scenes, while finely patterned floral borders, cobalt blue accents and generous gilt trim complete the decoration. The deep porcelain vessels are raised upon shaped pedestal bases and finished with sculpted gilt handles, giving the pair excellent visual impact and decorative presence.
Pêtre was one of the important porcelain manufacturers working in Baudour, Belgium, during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Finding a matched pair of this scale in such exceptional condition is increasingly rare, particularly with decoration that remains so vivid and appealing for today’s interiors.
