Antique Georgian walnut tilt-top library or game table, circa 1790–1820, featuring a rounded rectangular plank top, turned pedestal and graceful downswept tripod base. At 34" wide, the table offers a surprisingly useful surface for reading, writing, puzzles, cards or intimate dining while retaining a compact footprint.
The top tilts vertically when not in use, a practical Georgian feature originally intended to free valuable floor space. Its mellow walnut surface, softly rounded corners and sculptural tripod base give it an appealing, relaxed character particularly well suited to a library, study or layered traditional interior.
Measures 34"W × 28.5"D × 27.5"H when open; approximately 45"H with the top tilted upright.

This is exactly the sort of antique I like in a reading room because it earns its space. It is large enough for books, studying, cards or a quiet supper for two, yet the tilt-top design lets it sit almost decoratively against a wall when the floor space is needed.
