The compact vessel is decorated with floral motifs and scrolling wirework against a rich cobalt and royal-blue enamel ground, with warm brass fittings providing contrast to the densely worked surface.

Constructed using traditional wire-cell cloisonné, or jingtailan, the decoration is formed from brass or copper cloisons defining individual enamel-filled compartments.
