This 1981 Burwood Products Co. wall mirror pairs a faux bamboo trellis frame — in the tradition of the bamboo and trellis motifs pioneered by Frances Elkins and later embraced by Billy Baldwin — with the kind of maximalist detail that turns a hallway or powder room into a moment. Newly finished by Turtle and Crane Atelier in a rich, Dorothy Draper-worthy green, with hand-applied gold gilding worked into a multilayered patina across the lattice and bamboo joints, so the gold catches unevenly rather than sitting flat. A bespoke addition makes this piece one of a kind: a resin parrot figure, hand-painted in crisp white in the Blanc de Chine tradition, perched along one edge and integrated into the frame’s finish — a nod to the exotic bird motifs that were a Tony Duquette signature.
Picture it in a green-and-white Palm Beach room worthy of the Colony Hotel or a Kips Bay Palm Beach show house — the kind of space Celerie Kemble builds a whole scheme around. At 31”H x 19”W, it’s substantial enough to anchor a wall without overwhelming a smaller space — ideal for an entry, powder room, or gallery wall grouping. In the tradition of tropical, chinoiserie-adjacent Hollywood Regency style, this is a piece with real presence and a little wit.

Mirror glass shows light surface scratches consistent with normal use. Original design modified with our hand-applied paint, gilding, and multilayered patina finish, and the addition of a hand-lacquered white Blanc de Chine-style parrot, described above. As always, vintage items will have imperfections in the original piece and the newly applied finish. Perfection is not promised and not possible. less
