Circa 1960s Queen Anne style wingback chairs featuring custom coral Chinoiserie jacquard upholstery, tall shaped wings, cabriole legs, pad feet and traditional turned stretcher bases. The woven fabric depicts Asian figures, birds, flowering trees and garden pavilions within framed scenic cartouches.
The upholstery is particularly well executed, with the principal scenes carefully centered across the backs and seats and the decorative textile continuing over the fully upholstered outside backs. The elegant high-backed profile and exposed wood bases closely relate to documented American Queen Anne revival chairs of the period, including examples by Hickory Chair Furniture Company; no maker's label was found on this pair.
