Dating to approximately the 1960s, this beautifully constructed table combines a warm walnut-toned wood frame with elegant faux-bamboo turned supports and an expansive lower shelf composed of three individually framed woven-cane panels. The long rectangular top features beautifully figured wood grain arranged in decorative panels, accented by crossbanding and small carved rosette details at the intersections and corners.
The slender turned legs and faux-bamboo construction give the table a sophisticated Hollywood Regency, Chinoiserie and British Colonial influence, while the unusually long 68-inch proportions make it particularly impressive behind a sofa, in an entry hall, or as a statement console.
One of the strongest features of this example is the condition of the woven cane. The original cane remains remarkably well preserved, tight and intact, especially impressive for a vintage table of this size. The three-panel construction of the lower shelf provides both visual interest and substantial display space.
The table retains the original Baker Furniture brass identification medallion, confirming its manufacture by one of America’s most respected furniture makers. See less
