An exquisite pair of antique Edwardian side chairs in the Neoclassical / Sheraton Revival style, dating from the early 20th century. Crafted from rich, tight-grained mahogany, this pair stands out due to an exceptional abundance of finely detailed brass and bronze metalwork ornamentation. Their elegant silhouettes and versatile size make them perfect as striking accent chairs in a foyer, bedroom, or living space.
The back features an open-work geometric splat anchored by a central wood patera disc. Radiant brass staves extend from the core like a sunburst, framed by ornate brass fan-shaped corner brackets.
The top rail is embellished with a hand-carved laurel leaf swag, while the lower crossbar features a prominent, detailed brass sunburst medallion flanked by delicate floral florets and miniature vertical brass spindles.
Each leg is crowned with a bold bronze rosette medallion above a collar of cast metal trim and finished with a detailed bow-and-garland ribbon mount.
The current fabric is a durable, multi-colored woven tapestry in a traditional botanical motif that remains clean, tight, and completely usable. The drop-in design makes future custom re-upholstery a seamless project if desired.
