Crafted in the French or Belgian region, this heavy antique metal charger features a magnificent centerpiece: an intricately detailed, deep repoussé embossed armorial shield depicting a crowned Fleur-de-Lis. The plate features a highly decorative scalloped rim beautifully accented with a wide border of raised round studs (bosses), evoking an authentic, Old World masculine aesthetic. The reverse side bears a wealth of historical documentation, featuring a well-defined stamped quality touchmark alongside a smaller secondary master craftsman mark encased in a stylized arch motif. This piece showcases a wonderful, authentic aged patina with soft grey luster. It is a rather large piece measuring 15” in diameter. A timeless statement piece, it is perfect for styling on a tabletop easel, leaning on a mantle, or mounting as an elegant wall installation in a dining room, library, or study.
