Offered is a lovely art monograph book, "Magritte: Ideas and Images", by Harry Torczyner, an international lawyer, close friend, and confidant of the Belgian surrealist painter René Magritte. Originally published in French as "René Magritte: Signes et Images". Published in 1977 by Harry N. Abrams, the 277-page volume combines personal letters, manifestos, and rare correspondence with over 500 illustrations to decode the artist's enigmatic symbolism and philosophy. Features direct correspondence and dialogue between Torczyner and Magritte, offering an intimate look at the painter's private thoughts. Contains hundreds of black-and-white and color plates showcasing famous motifs like bowler hats, floating objects, and hidden faces. Gathers rare notes, personal photographs, and foundational writings assembled with help from Magritte's widow and inner circle.
