This is a wonderful antique hand-hammered brass vessel, with a low oval form, gently undulating rim, and substantial loop handles at either end. The irregular shape and visible hammering give it a beautifully primitive, handcrafted character.
Years of age have created a rich, layered patina of warm bronze, muted gold, silvery oxidation and touches of verdigris, with surface wear that adds tremendous texture and authenticity.
Originally utilitarian—possibly a small cooking, warming, or serving vessel—it would now make a fabulous decorative bowl, planter/cachepot, or centerpiece. A beautifully aged piece with wonderful European country-house or rustic Old World appeal.
