Pre-1920s Birmingham silver mounted rectangular presentation cigarette box, with engraved gift message , it has a slightly domed hinged cover, … Read more Pre-1920s Birmingham silver mounted rectangular presentation cigarette box, with engraved gift message , it has a slightly domed hinged cover, opening to reveal compartmented softwood interior, plain exterior smooth sides, sits on four out swept feet, hallmarks and, maker's mark worn and difficult to confirm though F, Anchor, Lion are visible. Approx 4" High X 9 1/2" Long X 6 1/2" Wide, reputedly given to my grandfather by the tobacconist he worked for in Pittsburgh, PA.
We believe it to be A fine quality Elizabeth II silver cigarette box with hallmarks on the side of the base and lid. The lid and the four outswept feet are embellished. The box has rounded corners. The hinged lid works, sticks slightly. We think the box is lined with cedar. The underside is a textured black, perhaps hide. Designed as a cigarette box, it adapts to many purposes such as jewellery, or decorative accent.. It is a beautiful, substantial and classy bit of the old world. Has a few dents, some tarnish but is in structurally sound condition
