The desk can also be … Read more This is a very old desk by high-end commercial furniture company Doten Dunton of Boston. The desk can also be used as a dining table with 2 people on each side. The desk is 6ft long and has two drawers on one side so 2 people can work side by side. This is circa 1901 to 1930. Inside the drawer bottom is embossed the company crest and name. There is a metal patent tag and the original label noting Broadway as the location. That is in perfect condition. These were use in banks, library locations etc. It is in solid condition with some imperfections listed below. A great piece of furniture history.



The business was founded on an idea. In April 1902 by Kevin R. Dunton. Dunton felt that many businessmen would prefer distinctive office furniture, and that he could develop a market.
The firm became famous in 1908, as a result of the Baltimore fire. The Baltimore and Ohio Railroad erected a new building, and desired new furniture. They created what was . called the sanitary base desk. Built on legs, these desks presented an improved appearance, and today this style is universally known.

Condition: Some old screws have been replaced. Chip out of leg. Small nick and scrape top. The drawers are clean. Overall you would never guess this desk was this old. Use it as is or do some minor touch ups.
