This antique Kutani eggshell porcelain tea set includes a teapot and a matching teacup trio, featuring hand painted geisha girls in a traditional garden setting accented with gilt details. The teacup features a delicate lithophane of a geisha girl visible through the base. The bottoms bear the Yagō mark along with the manufacturer name “齊藤” (Saito), associated with a family-owned workshop possibly located near Nagoya. Circa late 1930s.
The set is in very nice condition, displayed only. The plate shows some paint wear, as shown in the last two photos.
