This is a modern hand-turned cherry bowl that follows the mid-century principles that flourished from the 1940's to 1960's, particularly in Scandinavian and North American craft traditions. This bowl is hand-turned, often from single pieces of hardwood, often featuring natural grain patterns and organic forms that celebrated the beauty of the material itself. The warm tones and simple, functional design reflect the emphasis on bringing natural elements into the home while maintaining clean, uncluttered aesthetics. The artist signed on the round base .""O. Lufton Cherry 2006"
The artist has chosen a piece of wood with beautiful wood grains and contrasting colors, the surface is carefully sanded smooth. The bowl is both functional and decorative. The not quite round bowl is a sign of handcrafted bowl.
