Set of 8 vintage pink transferware dinner plates made in England by Copeland Spode featuring a coastal landscape with sailboats and a castle and mountains in the background. The plates feature Spode's signature Georgian-style Gadroon shape with a ribbed, scalloped edge. Backstamp and impressed date stamp present.
The "Copeland Late Spode" stamp was used by the W.T. Copeland factory to highlight that they were continuing production of classic, sought-after patterns originally created by Josiah Spode. The inclusion of "England" dates this plate production after 1891, which aligns with the implementation of the U.S. McKinley Tariff Act requiring imports to state their country of origin.
