These mid-century chairs from France, crafted in neoclassical stylings with elegant Empire-inspired detailing, each featuring a gently curved crest rail, with leaf carved embellishments, above a distinctive open back centered by a pair of interlocking rings carved uroboros (serpent eating its own tail) motifs. The chairs stand on tapered and fluted front legs accented with gilt carved petite flowers, acanthus wrapped bands, and sabre-shaped legs at rear. Upholstered seats are generously padded and covered in a dark geometric-patterned fabric that complements the warm tones of the wood and gold/bronze gilt decoration. The fabric is in good/usable condition. These vintage French side chairs, with their striking backs and subtle gilded accents, make them equally suited to formal dining rooms, library seating, or striking accent seating. See less
