Concentric tiers of vertical glass rods descend in a stepped cascade, each level suspended from a warm brass framework that gives the piece its architectural presence.

When illuminated, the glass diffuses light evenly across its broad diameter, creating a soft, radiant glow. Measuring just under five feet in diameter and weighing nearly 450 pounds, the scale is commanding yet carefully balanced. Only seven examples were made, reflecting the bespoke nature of the original commission.

A statement piece in the truest sense—designed not simply to light a room, but to define it.

About Christoph Palme
The Palme name is rooted in the Bohemian tradition of handcrafted crystal lighting, dating back to 1724. The family became known for producing chandeliers for European royalty, including the Austrian court, and for early innovations that shaped the form of the Maria Theresa chandelier.

Over the centuries, Palme fixtures illuminated palaces, embassies, and landmark interiors. In the early-20th century, workshops in Germany carried the legacy forward, adapting the firm’s historic craftsmanship to modern forms. By the mid-20th century, Christoph Palme chandeliers paired brass frameworks with refined glass elements, often executed as custom commissions for large-scale interiors.

This chandelier reflects that lineage—centuries of tradition translated into scale, precision, and presence.

Condition: Great vintage condition, with a warm patina to the brass and minor age-related wear to some of the glass elements. This fixture currently has four hooks on the frame for a near flush-mount installation. It also has the capability to be installed with its original drop rod, which will be included upon request with purchase. The drop rod length is 63.5”. Accepts 45 E26 light bulbs.
