The stone is cut with a deep chamfered edge, forming a shallow tray-like profile that gives the piece presence without heaviness.

The base is where it becomes expressive — tapered iron legs joined by a hand-worked stretcher, softened with scroll detailing and punctuated by small bronze spheres. The iron has aged to a deep charcoal patina; the bronze elements glow softly against it. The balance between disciplined geometry and decorative gesture places it firmly in the Parisian tradition of the 1940s–50s, in the spirit of Diego Giacometti and Gilbert Poillerat - and the refined ironwork ateliers of the period.

Compact in scale at 29.5 by 19.5 inches, it works beautifully as a coffee table in an intimate seating arrangement, as a sculptural side table, or layered beneath larger pieces. It carries the kind of presence that doesn’t shout — it anchors a room quietly, with intention.

Condition: Great overall vintage condition, with minor scuffs appropriate with use and age. The top can be removed from the base. See less
