The artist had an impressive catalog of seventy paintings with four being of self portraits during his short life. It’s not clear exactly when he painted his Self-Portrait with Palette, but it was most probably in 1865. It’s a remarkably accomplished work, given the complexity of arranging the mirror and canvas to result in this unusual pose. The original of this reproduction of his self portrait is life-size and is at the Art Academy in Chicago. The print is placed in a grand and fitting wood frame with intentionally distressed/aged finish. It is in good overall condition for its usage. See less
