The composition depicts the white-bodied, multi-faced deity seated in meditation beneath an ornate jeweled crown. Mahavairocana is surrounded by a gilded aureole, layered halos, lotus blossoms, scrolling clouds, architectural forms, and smaller devotional figures arranged throughout the scene. Blue, red, green, orange, ivory, and gold-tone pigments define the ceremonial robes, jewelry, sacred emblems, and geometric border motifs.
