Granulation is an 8th century B.C. jewelry technique where tiny spheres of gold are fused to a metal base. In these earrings, a dome surface is covered in the tiniest of granulated balls that have been hand placed and create the texture of seeds in a fully-bloomed sunflower. Around the exterior border, a series of three balls stacked together creates a repeated motif remniscent of tiny flower petals. The workmanship that went into this piece should not be underestimated; these are very special earrings. Looking at the glow of the high karat gold is amazing, and the granulation catches the light in a magical way.

Each earring measures 7/8” from top to bottom. The flower measures 1/2” across and is 1/8” deep. Combined, the earrings weigh 3.7 grams. Marked 22k gold. See less
