Muller frères & la Lustrerie Bruxelloise
A 1925-1935 Franco-Belgian art deco lamp depicting peacocks. Crafted from nickel plated solid brass or bronze and clear frosted pressed glass.
Both the shade and the glass base are signed Muller. The Muller Frères glassworks originally supplied these matching shade combinations to lighting firms to pair with custom bronze or wrought iron mounts. (See the last photos from the original Muller Frères product catalogs).
This particular lamp was produced by La Lustrerie Bruxelloise, a prominent Brussels-based lighting manufacturer during the interwar period. While the firm primarily used "Nacrocrystal" pressed glass shades from Val Saint-Lambert for its fixtures, they also incorporated Loys Lucha enameled bowls for pendants, as well as the famous Muller peacock shades for sconces, chandeliers, pendants, and this table lamp. The mount is stamped "LB," the foundry mark of La Lustrerie Bruxelloise.
The lamp has a height of 16,5 inches (42 cm). The shade is some 14 inches (36 cm) wide. And the glass ball of the base has a diameter of circa 9,5 inches (24 cm). The lamp is in excellent condition consistent with age. The mount is re-nickeled and patinated. And the lamp is rewired with nice cloth covered twisted cord. It holds four American candelabra base sockets and comes with a US 2-prong plug.
