Produced by the renowned … Read more An enormous monumental Chinese utilitarian pottery/earthenware wine jar (酒坛) dating from the mid-20th century (circa 1960s–1970s). Produced by the renowned Yixing Daily-Use Ceramics Factory (宜兴日用陶瓷厂), this massive vessel is a striking example of robust, traditional Chinese industrial craftsmanship. The jar features its original, crisp factory-stamped oval mark on the shoulder, proudly designating its substantial 250-kilo (250公斤) liquid capacity, framed beautifully by the underlying unglazed yellowish-tan earthenware body (土陶色). There is also a brand mark "Da Tong Fu" (大同福) to the rim.
The jar boasts a spectacular, multi-toned glaze. A deep, rich brownish-black base glaze (黑釉) cascades down the voluminous body, showing organic variations of dark chocolate brown and warm yellowish undertones. The entire piece is sealed with a highly reflective, glossy translucent top glaze that catches the light beautifully, giving the rustic form a sophisticated, high-end sheen perfect for modern, rustic, or eclectic interiors.
With its commanding scale, this jar makes an incredible statement piece as an interior focal point, a dramatic planter, or a unique architectural element.
Condition: Good vintage used condition. Overall displays an attractive, authentic weathered patina consistent with age and historical utilitarian use.
