Hand-carved in the early 1900s, the stunning light source features eight arms comprised of scrolls, curled leaves, and a tassel noix. Each arm has a geometric bobeche with a lobed, cylindrical cup that supports a long, faux white candle sleeve. The arms attach to the cylindrical main body in the form of a curled leaf rising from a square joinery detailed with a rosette. A large, undulating noix hangs beneath, embellished with leaf cups and a golden ball that supports another tassel. At the top of the main body is another leaf cup, topped by a deeply fluted, tapering neck that rises to a lobed canopy with a golden ball finial. The wood has been hand-painted with a cream finish, allowing the giltwood elements to gain prominence, accented by the presence of red bole. It is a stunning example of an Italian Florentine chandelier, characterized by the ornate, architectural carvings and refined ornamentation. See less
