This is a primitive antique tall storage cabinet that was originally intended to be a pie safe or jelly cupboard, … Read more This is a primitive antique tall storage cabinet that was originally intended to be a pie safe or jelly cupboard, circa 19th century.

The cupboard is made of solid oak with crown moulding, two pairs of doors, and two drawers. The upper doors have metal mesh screened panels and open to reveal a red painted storage space with two removable wood shelves with plate grooves. Below are two drawers with white ceramic knobs. Two solid paneled doors on the bottom open to an unpainted storage area with one removable wood shelf. The doors have what looks like original metal locks that open with a skeleton key, which is missing. The key holes are surrounded by original shaped wood escutcheons. Various latches have been added over time to secure the doors. Wood paneled sides and back. The back is stamped “E. DOLITZ” on the back, which might be a maker’s mark.

The 19th century cabinet is in very good antique condition. Lots of charm, authentic aging, and patina. Some cracks in the wood, scratches and dents, as well as wood loss on the corner of a front leg. Please see photos for more details about the condition of the cupboard.
