An exceptional, exhibition-scale piece of vintage American studio art pottery by celebrated Florida ceramicists Leo & Karin Villaroman for Charlestowne Porcelain. Standing a commanding 11.5 inches tall, this substantial masterwork features a breathtaking, 360-degree multi-dimensional marine panorama hand-sculpted in incredible high relief.
The lower half of the vessel showcases a deeply textured, rustic basketweave pattern from which highly realistic sea life dynamically emerges. The composition includes a beautifully textured sea turtle, a detailed reef fish, an intricate shrimp, and overlapping ocean flora and seashells. The upper body features a smooth, satin-matte sea-green glaze that provides a striking modern contrast to the earthy, organic terracotta tones of the relief work. The sculptural lid features an integrated kelp-twisted handle accented by a tiny starfish and fan shells.
This oversized piece is fully signed with the artists' crisp, stamped signature imprint on the base: "Leo & Karin Villaroman". It makes an extraordinary statement piece for high-end coastal estates, beach homes, or organic modern interiors. I love the details on the sea turtle and fish.
