This Really is an Outstanding Example of a Authentic Antique American Primitive Stoneware Jug. Circa Approx 1870s. It is Embossed with a Number 3 Confirming its Large Three Gallon Liquid Storage Capacity. It is Also Embossed - Sighed with the Well Documented New York Maker "WHITES UTICA". NOTE That The Embossed Maker Mark is Faint and Obscured with Excess Glaze Etc. Records Indicate that Noah White - Original Founder Started Producing Stoneware items in Approx 1834. Over the Following Years the Company was Managed by a Number of Whites Family Members and Produced Under Name Variations for Many Years Reaching in to the Very Early 20th Century before Closing. It is has a Classic American Salt Glazed Exterior that has Developed as a Result of Many Years of Actual Use a Color Variations.. The Front of the Jug is Beautifully Hand Decorated with a Deep Cobalt Blue Stylized Bird on a Branch Decoration. Back in the Day These Types of Stoneware Items were a Necessity in Most of Americas Farms and Household's and They were Made - Intended For Everyday Utilitarian Use. These Types of American Stoneware Items we Completely Hand Made out of Indigenous Clay on a Potters Wheel from Start to Finish and Therefore No 2 are Absolutely Identical. These Types of Jugs were Commonly Used to Store and Preserve Many Types of Liquids - Spirits - Vinegar - Water - Cider Etc. It is in Very Good All Original Condition and it Displays Beautifully. It is Strong and Sound - Still Perfectly Usable if So Desired. No Cracks - No Repairs. Imperfection Noted - Chip to the Spout Area.
