A striking monumental abstract sculpture by American artist Michael Costello, signed and dated 2005. Standing an impressive 43 inches tall, this sculptural work exemplifies Costello’s distinctive approach to contemporary studio art, combining richly textured carved hardwood with contrasting ebonized elements in an elegant architectural composition. The sculpture features a gracefully curved upper form balanced atop two elongated supports, accented by a suspended removable pendulum-like element and polished sphere. The richly figured exotic hardwood displays a remarkable natural grain pattern, creating a dynamic visual interplay between organic material and modernist design.
A sophisticated statement piece, this work functions equally well as fine art sculpture or as a dramatic focal point within contemporary, modern, or organic interiors.
