We are selling this great folk provincial English portrait painting. This painting has an well painted young girl in striking white dress with blue stripes. The young girl is holding and shaking hands with her dog, which appears to be a West Highland White Terrier or Westie. The painting is executed in oil on canvas but has been professionally laid down on board. The painting is probably 2nd quarter of the 19th century.
Condition: Has been professionally laid down on a panel with restorations and stabilization to the flaking and paint loss at the edges. Some more recent damages and scratches revealing white gesso.
